Hile Gunslingers, joining the Palaver this episode is Lou Sytsma from The Stephen King Podcast. He joins Tadd and Peter in Palaver covering the San Diego Comic-Con news including Beryl Evans’ book signing as well as Anthony Breznican’s interview with Idris Elba where he gets the answer the the question about the accent that Roland will speak with, along with some insight into the thought behind bringing Roland to life, as well as Idris confirms that the film has officially wrapped and now enters post-production. The Palaver also talks about the Sombra App and the Tet-Corp website. There is also audio from the George RR Martin interview of Stephen King from the New Mexico End of Watch tour, including some talk of what might change in the Dark Tower series if ever revised. As well as the larger Ka-Tet sends in some emails to round out the Palaver.

Next time will be a Book Club, and the episode after that is the big NINETEEN for the Round Table, so if you have any more ideas of how to celebrate this episode email us. Check out this episode!
First off joining out Ka-Tet this week is Lou Sytsma of The Stephen King Podcast. He does this podcast with Hans Lilja who runs Lilja’s Library one of the best and longest running Stephen King fan-websites on the web. They are certainly a great place to go if you want to explore the larger Stephen King Universe.
Slightly tangential (but that is Palaver for you) Lou mentioned Starlog Magazine HERE is a link to digital versions of every issue ever printed. Gives you the idea if you are like Peter and were not aware of it.
Here is the picture Peter showed Tadd. Do you ken Barlow?
HERE is the great article we talked about where Anthony Breznican looks at the bizarre event of Beryl Evans showing up at SDCC to sign copies of her book.
Uncle Stevie tweeted this ahead of Comic-Con.
Beryl Evans at SDCC signing her book.
Want to see the entire book? Thanks to Anthony Breznican (again from EW) for posting all 19 pages, check out the story HERE.
We mentioned the Tet Corporation website, HERE is the link.
Also Sombra has a website, check it out HERE this page is basically a route to the app we mentioned.
Next is Anthony Breznican interviewed Idris Elba at SDCC, check out the full interview HERE.
Here is the interview with George RR Martin and Stephen King for the End of Watch Tour.
Here is the Conan video referenced about the cameras he “hacked” at George RR Martin’s house. Really funny.
Another muted scene but gives you the idea of the range of Idris. He plays the second in command of a Drug Gang that had a stick-up crew rob their stash, he believes there is a snitch and is telling a subordinate how to weed them out. Notice his accent and how different it is from Elba’s real English accent.
Spoilers for Luther in this clip. They basically have a killer who is doing really crazy stuff and it turns out he is rolling dice and killing based on his rolls. Luther (Elba) offers the bomb-strapped killer a game, he says he is the “boss” of this level and gets the killer away from the crowds and pours gasoline on himself and tells him he will guess the role of the dice and if he is wrong the killer can set him on fire. Very intense scene and you can see the mettle that Idris can play even when he is playing a character more human than Roland will be.
Hile Gunslingers, we have a special treat for you guys on this Round Table for the first time we have a guest joining us. EW Senior Writer and huge fan of Uncle Stevie and The Dark Tower, Anthony Breznican. Anthony wrote the cover story and the other Dark Tower Articles that have been all over EW the end of last week and beginning of this week. Anthony was in Cape Town and interviewed Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey and Nikolaj Arcel. As well as talked to Uncle Stevie on the phone. Anthony shares some insights into his background with Sai King as well as some insights into writing these stories and even gives us a few small nuggets that may not have made it into the articles. We finish up the show with a few emails.

I wanted to give you guys some scenes from the Idris Elba Greatest hits album. I am going to do this until the release of the film. These are both pretty light on the spoilers.
First The Wire, Idris Elba plays the second in command to a drug Empire, and the bosses nephew is dropping off his earnings for the day. It is a subtle scene, not very flashy, but the brilliance of Idris is on display, especially considering he is a Brit.
Next is from Luther, Idris is John Luther and he has come face to face with a killer who has been put on the path by his emotionally abusive and manipulative father. Here Idris plays a man not as hard-edged as Roland on the surface but as the scene goes on you see the mettle that is just below the surface.
Might be off topic but Anthony Breznican also had a story and reveal of the first look at It from the upcoming film. Since we mentioned it HERE is a link, coulrophobics beware.
Hile Gunslingers, let us Palaver. Tadd and Peter return to the Round Table (Arthur Eld would be pleased) and this time they go through emails talking meeting Stephen King, to being worried about the films, to a newcomers dream cast. Then in the news there is some casting news, some tweets, some Facebook posts, some Instagram posts, and a bunch of set photos as the Dark Tower moves from South Africa to New York City. The biggest highlight is the first really good look at Matthew McConaughey as Randall mother fucking Flagg!
Join in the Palaver via email to be part of the show. Next time is another Round Table. Also check out the Social Media for Palaver inbetween shows, and the show notes at darktowerpalaver.com Check out this episode!
First up Matt emailed in and mentioned this song as his personal theme for Roland. He played this game concurrently with reading the final book.
Our first article was talking about Michael Barbieri (Timmy, friend of Jake) being cast in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming. Check it at Heroic Hollywood.
Next here is a screen grab of Idris Elba’s Father’s Day Tweet,
Next up is the tweet by the band Cloakroom claiming to be scoring the film. After recording this was proven false.
Next just as a followup, we did mention Junkie XL being listed on IMDB in the show, but his confirmation came the next day, here is a screen grab of that,
Next up is the pictures from the Nicholas Hamilton sleuthing, this is his first pictures posted from South Africa,
Second was from the same post on his Facebook this reveals his character’s name.
Next up is from Nicholas Hamilton’s Instagram from Cape Town. Most interestingly is the script with the revisions on it.
The last Facebook post from Nicholas Hamilton, he along with Tom Taylor,
Next up an article in which Matthew McConaughey talks briefly at the end about Randall Flagg. Via The Daily Beast.
Next up is the short article highlighting filming locations and dates for The Dark Tower movie in New York City. Via On Location Vacations.
Yeah I misspoke and called Ron Howard the Director, but here is the picture he tweeted out on Saturday. In New York City with Idris in costume as well as a very tanned Nikolaj Arcel.
Next up is a handful of the Idris set photos from New York City, a few even have he and Jake together for our first time as an audience seeing them together.
For set photos last and most certainly not least is Matthew McConaughey in costume as Randall Mother Fucking Flagg,
Just a bonus, also mentioned on the show, Tom Taylor took this picture and someone on the internet added the text.
One behind the scene shot tweeted out from Idris from New York.
That is it for this week, but I will leave you with some Hey Jude to say Long Days and Pleasant Nights.
Hile Gunslingers, join the boys in a palaver digging deep into the books of the Dark Tower Series. Tadd and Peter continue on the journey to the Dark Tower as they follow Roland through the last of his flashback to Gallows Hill, then back to the present as he and Jake lay eyes on The Man in Black for the first time in gods knows how long. Then we begin the Oracle.
Also this is a Book Club (sooner than it should be) because vacation season is here and our recording schedule was impacted and we wanted an episode out on time and Book Clubs keep a lot better than Round Tables. Next 3 or so episodes (at least) will be Round Tables.
If you want to be involved in the Book Club discussions just send an email and put Book Club in the header.
Doing the notes in order of what we bring up means that this beauty is the first face you get to see this week. This is one we discussed because Chad Waller is doing prothstetics for the film and this was on his instagram. Turns out it is not for The Dark Tower but figured the finished product might be interesting. If nothing else to see his talent.
Demonic Nun by Chad Waller
Tadd mentions this (starts around 3:20 mark) as an idea for
inspiration for a theme for Blaine the Mono.
An example of the Ennio Morricone’s brilliant work in
The Good The Bad and The Ugly.
Here is the link to the extended Dark Tower read. This gives you a path to read most connected books to The Dark Tower series at the proper time. This is for Chris’ request.
Hile Gunslingers, join the boys in a palaver digging deep into the books of the Dark Tower Series. Tadd and Peter continue on the journey to the Dark Tower as they follow Roland into the cellar to get supplies for the journey ahead. There Roland faces a speaking demon. Along with some Palaver with Jake and eventually a trip down memory lane. They see Cort the hard case who is teaching the children. As well as Hax the cook who has some maleficence afoot. As well as Steven Deschain, the father of Roland. So grab your copy of the Gunslinger and join DTP through a door back to Mid-World.
If you want to join in on the Book Club Palaver email the show and put Book Club in the subject line.
