Wolves of the Calla #5 (Pt1, Ch4 Sc3-10)

📖 Section Covered: Part 1, Chapter 4 Subchapters 3-10

📢 Episode Summary:

We continue into the palaver about what Eddie and Jake saw in New York, including the legal agreement Sombra has with Tower for the vacant lot. They figure that Tower is drowning and the vacant lot is likely one of his last assets so when the agreement runs out in a month and a half it is unlikely he will refuse whatever offer Sombra gives, and since Sombra is hiring Balazar they seem less than scrupulous. Susannah says they should buy the lot themselves and reveals she is rich, so if they can get to 1964 get some of her money, go to 1977 and buy the lot from Tower they can ensure The Rose is safe. Roland then tells them they are making the doors sound common and they are exceedingly rare, he had only seen the ones they had seen and he had been on the Tower journey for over 1,000 years. Also they not only want two doors but ones they can aim at specific time periods which none of what they have seen before has that kind of control over where and when they go. Then Callahan, who approached midway through their palaver, chimes in he might be able to help. He tells them in brief what the town is facing and that they might have an uphill battle to convince them, which Roland is firm he will not convince anyone, that is not his role. Then Callahan offers them what is under the floorboards of his church, the thing that sent Eddie and Jake todash, Black 13. When he goes to get the rest of the group to talk to the gunslingers Roland asks if they think he is honest, they all do. They recognize the name of one farmer as an author Tower mentioned when Jake encountered him. Then when Jake takes out Charlie the Choo Choo the author is no longer listed anywhere in the book, the name Beryl Evans has vanished from it entirely.
